BS in Nursing Admission & Application Requirements

  • Dates & Deadlines for BS in Nursing Program Application
    • Fall 2020 Applicants Only: Applications will be open from March 1, 2020-May 1, 2020
    • Future Semesters: The application deadline will change. Please check back for application availability dates.
        
  • To be eligible for admission to the BS in Nursing major, students must:

    • Applicants to the BS in Nursing program must have coursework completed or in process during the application term (minimum GPA of 2.75)
    • TEAS test must be completed. The minimum TEAS score for consideration is 58.7% (Proficient). The best score achieved (at or above 58.7%) may be used for application. TEAS score will be verified with ATI if taken at a MANE college or university. If TEAS was taken at a non-MANE college or university, the applicant must request an official TEAS transcript be sent to the program(s) where submitting an application;
    • To apply for admission to the BS in Nursing program, students must first be admitted to MSUM. Then, a separate online application to the BS in Nursing program is submitted.
        
    Admission Decisions

    Admission is limited and competitive, only 32 students will be accepted per semester start. It is advised that all applicants also consider a parallel plan.

    Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 in both the first and second semester prerequisite courses listed in the BS in Nursing program course sequence to maintain eligibility for admission. Official transcripts will be used to calculate the GPA, and the most recent grades will be used. Each individual course must have at least a C grade.

    If you are a Licensed Practical Nurse, you must maintain an unencumbered practical nursing license from any state in the U.S. throughout the program.

    Applicants will be notified by July 1.

    2. Complete or be taking the four courses that are evaluated for admission to the program with a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
    3. Take the TEAS Test (minimum score of 58.7% or higher).
    4. Apply to the BS in Nursing Program
    5. Complete pre-requisite courses prior to nursing program start.

    Upon admission to the BS in Nursing program, new students will receive information about required documentation of immunizations and other screenings, CPR, background checks, etc., prior to program start.

  • *The proposed MSU Moorhead BS in Nursing program is a member of the Minnesota Alliance for Nursing Education (MANE) where we adhere to common admission criteria. At this time, MANE is implementing Holistic Admissions in two phases. (PHASE I) Consideration for admission to the MSU Moorhead MANE BS in Nursing program is based on TEAS and GPA. A Personal Statement is also required to complete the application. Applications without the Personal Statement will be considered incomplete and will not move forward for consideration.
