    Committee Charge: Coordinates the University's academic and non-academic assessment. The committee does not engage in personnel assessment.

    • Reviews assessment procedures for meeting accepted standards for data collection and analyses and makes recommendations for improvement.
    • Makes recommendations to departments on revising and maintaining departmental/programmatic assessment plans for majors and graduate programs.
    • Reviews all departmental assessment of student learning outcomes plans and reports, and makes recommendations to the dean/director for approval and action.
    • Will develop a plan for general education assessment and, when adopted, is responsible for its implementation.
    • Prepares and makes available an annual report on the University's progress with regard to assessing student learning outcomes and continuous improvement in curriculum and student learning.
    • Will develop a plan for assessment of the performance of non-academic units of the University and, when adopted, is responsible for its implementation.

    Will form subcommittees on departmental assessment (assuming the duties of the former Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Committee), general education assessment, and non-academic assessment, each of which may include 6 ex officio appointments of faculty on the basis of special expertise. The committee meets twice monthly during the academic year.
