Q. Is New Student Orientation required for all students?A. Yes, New Student Orientation is mandatory for students. This full-day program provides important information about campus, courses, financial aid, residence halls and student services. You’ll also meet with faculty and advisors and register for classes.
Q. If I was a PSEO student, do I need to attend New Student Orientation?A. Yes, attending New Student Orientation is mandatory for PSEO students. This is a great opportunity to meet new students, meet advisors in your area of study and get registered for your classes.
Q. Is New Student Orientation & Registration required for parents?A. New Student Orientation is not required for parents, but we highly encourage them to attend. In fact, nearly all incoming freshmen bring at least one parent or family member.
Q. Will parents and students be together during New Student Orientation & Registration?A. Parents and students will be together for part of New Student Orientation, but not all of it. Parents will attend a program especially for them while students attend their own program, meet with advisors and register for classes.

Q. What if I register for New Student Orientation & Registration and then need to cancel or reschedule?A. No problem. You can cancel or reschedule your New Student Orientation & Registration by contacting First Year Programs office.

Q. Where should I park for New Student Orientation & Registration?A. You will check-in for New Student Orientation & Registration in the Comstock Memorial Union. The Comstock Memorial Union is located on the corner of 6th Avenue South and 14th Street South as indicated on the Campus Map. You may park in any of the surrounding general or metered parking lots, which are indicated in yellow or red on the parking map. You will not need to pay the meter or display a parking permit during New Student Orientation & Registration.
Q. Are there any fees for attending New Student Orientation & Registration?A. No. New students are assessed a one-time new-student fee of $90 fee as part of their tuition and fee payment. The fee covers New Student Orientation & Registration, Dragon Welcome Week in the fall and social and academic programs throughout the year.
Q. What will I learn at New Student Orientation & Registration?A. Everything you need to make a smooth transition to Minnesota State University Moorhead! You'll receive your fall class schedule, find out what you need to do before joining us in the fall and connect with peers, upperclassmen and faculty/staff.
Q. Can I meet my advisor, get my classes and then leave New Student Orientation & Registration early?A. No. The advisors have prepared personalized information for you to use throughout the New Student Orientation day, so plan to attend the entire program - from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you have prior commitments for that day, please sign up for another day so you can attend the full program.
