Scott Seltveit is an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of the Construction Management program at Minnesota State University Moorhead where he has taught for the past 26 years. He was also a Project Manager for 10 years in Heavy Civil and Commercial construction. Scott graduated with a B.S. degree Construction Engineering from NDSU in 1979 and earned a MBA from MSU Moorhead in 1992. Scott worked on the construction of power lines for two summers prior to graduation. After that he worked for a bridge contractor for a year prior to joining the estimating group for Kaiser Engineers. Scott worked on two projects over a four year span with Kaiser. The first was the Coal Gasification Plant in Beulah, ND which was a $2 billion project in the early 1980’s. The second project, where Scott was the Project Estimator for the $100 million project, involved constructing sub-size missile silos and then blowing them up to simulate a nuclear explosion. From 1985 to 1989 Scott worked for a local construction firm, John T. Jones Construction Inc. where he was a Project Manager. In the fall of 1989 Scott got the opportunity to take over the management of the Construction Management program at MSU Moorhead. There were 12 students in the program when he began. The CM program earned American Council of Construction Education accreditation in the late 1990’s. Scott has served as the CM Program Coordinator and the Department Chair for several years.
