Concert Choir

Concert Choir is an auditioned, mixed choir that performs a wide variety of advanced choral repertoire from the Middle Ages through the 21st Century, under the direction of Dr. Michael Johnson. This is also MSUM's touring vocal ensemble. Rehearsals are MWF from 1:30-3:00 pm.

MSUM choral ensembles count for LASC credit in area 6. Choirs perform regularly on and off campus, singing both sacred and secular pieces, folksongs, spirituals, and masterworks, accompanied and a cappella. Regular collaborations occur between choral ensembles, other MSUM groups, and music programs in the area.

Choir auditions are held the first two days of classes in the fall semester, and by appointment for the spring. See the link below to sign-up for an audition slot. Auditions are brief and generally consist of these elements: 1) vocal exercises to determine range and appropriate voice part, 2) unaccompanied singing... could be a folk song or even happy birthday, 3) tonal memory exercises to determine intonation and ability to sing by ear, and 4) a brief sight singing exercise. Audition results are emailed at the conclusion of the audition period.
