International Studies Learning Opportunities

MSUM International Studies students are involved on campus and within the community through organizations and research. You’ll embrace diversity, challenges, opportunities and unique learning experiences.

Model United Nations (U.N.) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that will educate you on global issues, multilateralism and diplomacy. You’ll play the role of delegates from U.N. member states and serve as observer members. Delegates discuss current issues and negotiate possible solutions by navigating U.N. rules of procedure.

Our students consistently perform in the top tier at the Arrowhead Model U.N. Conference and have received numerous group and individual awards each year.

MSU Moorhead’s Student Academic Conference (SAC) provides an opportunity for student researchers to present their work to faculty, administration, peers and the community in a formal academic setting each April. You’ll have the chance to present your hard work in a variety of ways—panel discussions, workshops, multimedia presentations, displays and demonstrations—and gather constructive feedback to help you better analyze and continue exploration.

The Student Senate is the officially recognized voice of the student body at MSUM. Student Senate officers advocate on behalf of students to the administration of MSUM; Minnesota State; and local, state and federal governments. They also implement projects that will help further the sense of community and involvement on campus. Connect with Student Senate

As an International Studies student, you’re encouraged to study abroad and expand your knowledge of other cultures, languages and ideas. MSUM offers 12 study abroad exchange programs in Asia, Australia and Europe, as well as dozens of individual study abroad opportunities.
