Students in the Department of Physics and Astronomy work with the local community in several ways:

    • The Physics club organizes an annual physics demonstration show for the public.
    • Physics majors serve as mentors to several local robotics teams.
    • The Physics club runs a Science Room as part of the Family Fun Night at one of the local schools.
    • Physics students help with activities when school groups visit campus, including Expanding Your Horizons and Science Olympiad.
    • Physics students help run summer enrichment activities like Discovery Science Camp and College for Kids.

These experiences are fun, help reinforce your knowledge of physics and build the skills employers and graduate schools are looking for. Some of these activities are even paid positions, so you help the community, learn more physics and earn some money for college at the same time.
