  • Project FeederWatch Station

Project FeederWatch is a winter-long survey of birds that visit feeders at backyards, nature centers, community areas and other locations in North America. Thousands of volunteers from the United States and Canada have participated for over 20 years.  The program is operated by Cornell University in the United States and Environment Canada. Anyone can participate, see: www.birds.cornell.edu/pfw

The MSUM Regional Science Center has participated in the project FeederWatch program since 2001. The RSC station is coordinated by Tony Bormann. Each fall volunteers are needed to staff four counting sessions each month.

Anyone interested in participating can contact the Regional Science Center at 218.477.2904 or Tony Bormann at bormann@mnstate.edu.  You do not need to be an expert, just interested in our local birds. Children are welcome to participate with their parents.
