    The following types of resources may be useful for completing lesson plans, teaching units, or other related health research.

    Curriculum Bulletins/Guides


    Textbooks

    • Located in the textbook section of the CMC. Look under health, psychology, self-esteem, and child development. Supplementary textbooks are also available in this section on more specific topics.

    Trade Books for Junior-Senior High Students

    • Health related trade books are available on many topics and are located in the non-fiction collection in the CMC.

    Non-Book Resources

    • A number of audio-visual resources, such as video tapes, are located in the CMC multi-media collection.
    • CD-ROM - The Ultimate Human Body: a detailed multi-media guide to the human body. Curric. Software 612 U47
    • Video Disk - Resisting Pressures: Alcohol Resistance that Works: an interactive program designed to give adolescents skills to successfully refuse peer pressure related to alcohol. Curric. Ref. Video Disk 362.292 R433

    Periodical/Journal Articles and Resources

    • ERIC - a database on WebPals to locate lesson plans, units, and other topics related to health. Includes both educational articles, as well as a microfiche collection of documents.
    • Health Reference Center - a Gale Search Database that indexes journal and magazine articles related to health, as well as newsletters and pamphlets. Some resources include full text of the document.
    • Student Edition - a Gale Search Database that indexes periodicals, newspapers, encyclopedia articles, etc. for middle to high school students.

    For more Internet-based lesson plans, use a search engine and search under your topic plus the phrase "lesson plans."
