    Ph.D., LPC, NCC, NCSC; Lisa brings eight years of being a licensed school counselor in a variety of K-12 public educational settings to her role as the chair of School of Social Work and Counseling & Student Affairs Program at MSUM. Lisa was also trained in Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) and Response to Intervention (RtI) and defined the role of the school counselor within each of these systems. Lisa is a Ph.D. graduate in human development emphasis in Counseling Education & Supervision from North Dakota State University, CACREP accredited program. She is a Licensed Professional Counseling in Minnesota, National Certified Counselor, National Certified School Counselor, member and faculty advisor of Chi Sigma Alpha, Academic & Leadership Honor Society, and Chi Sigma Iota, Academic & Professional Honor Society International.

    Ph.D., LPC; Dr. Messina has over 15 years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse field prior to coming to Minnesota State University Moorhead. Dr. Messina has experience in individual, group, family, and substance abuse counseling, while also serving as a supervisor and clinical manager at a community mental health center in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Dr. Messina has participated in the development of several programs while in Pennsylvania including the Family Reunification program and Multidimensional Family Therapy program for the Community Counseling Center in Hermitage PA. Dr. Messina is also an active presenter at state, national, and international conferences and has provided regional and invited trainings on a number of topics. Dr. Messina received his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, a CACREP accredited program. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania.
