Fun Facts about Delta Zeta The Delta Zeta badge is a gold roman lamp atop an ionic column and features four pearls and a diamond. The badge is featured in a display at the Smithsonian Museum and has been voted the most beautiful badge. Delta Zeta's official publication is The LAMP. Delta Zeta is one of the sororities with the largest number of college chapters. Our 165 college chapters are distributed from coast to coast while our 250 alumnae chapters offer continuing association in 50 states, including Hawaii and Alaska, as well as the United Kingdom and Canada. Our national philanthropy is in the area of speech and hearing. In 1954 Gallaudet College was adopted by Delta Zeta and more than $12,000 in Delta Zeta scholarships are awarded to Gallaudet students annually. Today, Gallaudet has earned University status and is currently the only accredited four year liberal arts college in the world for the hearing impared. In 1982 the House Ear Institue was adopted as a second national philanthropy. The House Ear institute is know for medical research in the area of hearing loss. Delta Zeta's Founder's Day is October 24th. The Theta Nu chapter's local Founder's Day is November 23rd. Delta Zeta was admitted into the National Panhellenic Council in 1910. |
