Announcements:

Helen Harris has accepted the position of newsletter chair (taking over
for Jennifer Jacobson). The question was
raised whether this position should be changed to “Publications Chair” as Helen
also acts as Webmaster for our chapter.

Newsletter to be sent via e-mail and postcards (e-mail announcement
sent to e-mail list subscribers and postcards sent to members without e-mail

II.
Barb
-
The number of committees will change from 11 to 3

Change in bylaws to maintain university level standing of education
while still inviting top percentage of students
-
Amendment to bylaws wanted to give the board of directors the authority
to make adjustments in dues and fees
The board agrees to support the changes as listed
above. Plan for Barb to give a brief
update on the convention at our chapter fall meeting.
III.
Julene brought a “topics” survey to be distributed at the next chapter
meeting. This will survey members’
interests in future meeting topics/speakers.
IV.
A new e-mail list serve has been set up for our organization – Marjorie
is the owner. If a member’s e-mail is
not on this list, it needs to be added with membership renewal.
V.
Memory walk update: Held
September 20, Mari sent the information in to the International office. $470 was raised by our chapter. A write-up will appear in the next
newsletter.
VI.
The question was raised as to when our chapter anniversary is. Sara will check on when we were chartered and
discussion will be held in the future on how to acknowledge.
VII.
Fall education event: Xi Kappa,
together with District IV of NDNA will sponsor Connie Kalnek, PhD, RN,
Executive Director of ND Board of Nursing to speak on “Nurse Licensure Compact
and Rule Changes” Monday, October 27 from 7-9pm at the NDSU Memorial Union.
There is no charge for this event and no reservations are needed.
VIII.
Meeting/Induction Update(Sara):
The fall induction banquet will be held November 8th, 2003
and will be a 3pm dessert reception.

A powerpoint presentation will be done by an active member of our
chapter, Sara will check on where this can be set up in the room
-
Thus far, response has been good from the inductees
-
Julene will make up a ballot for bylaw changes
-
An e-mail will be sent out to subscribed members as a reminder to
register
-
Excellence awards are not offered this fall, scholarship awardees will
be announced
-
Please submit items for recognition of member accomplishments
IX.
Spring Workshop on Research-based practice
-
Develop a task force (made up of vice presidents, counselors and Rhoda
Hooper) to come up with ideas and take to board.

Speakers: Barb will check with
Ruth Lindquist and a talk on complimentary therapies, will ask Bonita Zimmerman
to contact a drug rep, Marjorie will contact Mary Wakefield
-
Hope to include a keynote speaker, dinner and poster display
