Computer Technology Strategies for Elementary Education
This course was taught in 1995 at Moorhead State University. I am thinking about
putting this course of study on the internet, but wonder if the topics are still relevant.
Here are the course topics, which were set up as a series of tutorials.
Computer Technology Strategies for Elementary Teachers
- Tutorial 1 - Introduction to the computer in the classroom, NCATE computer
technology standards.
- Tutorial 2 - Getting started with word processing, utilizing word processing
activities in language arts instruction.
- Tutorial 3 - Advanced word processing, desk top publishing in the elementary
classroom.
- Tutorial 4 - Using computer graphics in the classroom, student graphics projects
- Tutorial 5 - Introduction to spreadsheets, using spreadsheets in the classroom
(particularly in math and science instruction).
- Tutorial 6 - Using the spreadsheet as a teachers gradebook, using the spreadsheet
to gather and present data.
- Tutorial 7 - Introduction to database, utilizing database activites in the
elementary classroom.
- Tutorial 8 - Introduction to multimedia, using an authoring language in the
classroom.
- Tutorial 9 - Creating a vocabulary unit with an authoring language, creating an
interactive tour with an authoring language.
- Tutorial 10 - Educational telecommunication, using telecommunication in the
elementary classroom (sending and receiving electronic mail).
- Tutorial 11 - Web surfing, getting information from the world wide web, issues
involving web use by elementary students
- Tutorial 12 - Publishing on the world wide web, an introduction to HTML
- Tutorial 13 - Creating a class homepage on the world wide web
