This directory site is designed to lead the user to resources containing information
that will help with researching their health questions. It includes information from
MEDLINE, links to self-help groups, medical dictionaries, directories of doctors and
hospitals, access to National institute of Health consumer-related organizations,
clearinghouses, health-related organizations, and a search databases section with dozens
of databases on topics such as clinical trials, nutrition, AIDS, cancer, etc.

will help you find authoritative government and nonprofit groups concerned with
specific diseases and conditions.

MedScape
An online, peer-reviewed medical site covering a variety of topics. It
now includes CBSHealthWatch.com
The Vaccine Page
Annotated directory of Internet resources relating to vaccination. Includes separate
sections for parents, adults, practitioners, and researchers. In addition, theres a
directory of vaccine sites by country, a whats new page, and its searchable.

Genes and Disease
A good overview of the relationship between genetics and various diseases. There are
several sections: Cancer: Immune system: Metabolism: Muscle and bone: Nervous system;
Signals; and Transporters. Each section covers several diseases and each disease page also
provides a gene map, related links, and addresses for appropriate associations.
Additionally, a line to the new, searchable gene map of the human genome is available at
the top of every page.
Womens Health Information
Center
This site, offered by the editors of JAMA, has four sections dealing with research and
clinical information on womens health issues. The Newsline Section features both
brief and in-depth articles from a variety of sources. The Library Section includes:
Abstracts of major Womens Health articles published in the literature" and
full-text of selected articles. The last two sections have the latest information on
Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Contraception.
Biosurf
Links the content of a biology textbook to resources on the Internet. A former
Eisenhower National Clearinghouse's "Digital Dozen," Biosurf is organized in
several interesting categories including the Basis of Life, Genetics, Change and
Diversity, Monerans, Protists, and Fungi, Plants, Invertebrate Animals, Vertebrate
Animals, Human Biology, Organisms and the Environment.
Vesalius
A detailed collection of anatomical images and surgical techniques. Developed for
medical students and physicians, primarily surgeons, but will be of interest to upper-level
high school and college biology students. The Image Archive covers 16 areas of the human
body, and the Clinical Folios section, listed by topic (including: breast, heart, hernia,
musculoskeletal, spleen, stomach, surgical knots) includes narrative, sketches, and text
illustrating a specific procedure, and transparencies ("Layered images show a
constructive view of anatomy and procedures.") QuickTime and Shockwave are needed for
the transparencies.

Biotechnology site with links to science articles and company information. Check
calendar of industry events, investment information, subscribe to e-mail newsletter on
industry developments, and search for jobs by region, company, category. The Glossary is
more than a list of definitions. There's a list of the basic terms in the field, and many
of the glossary words are linked to available lists of related terms, companies, jobs, and
news.
NCBI Taxonomy Browser
The National Center for Biotechnology Information provides this quick and easy tool
for finding the complete lineage for any species. The database allows searches by common
name as well as scientific name.

A news service ruled by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)
with brief news about recent advances in medicine, science, technology... Some sections
only for journalists.

A great resource that will help you find medical information fast. Find journals
alphabetically or use the search engine. The abbreviations of Journals can help you if you
do not know the abbreviation for a citation. You can also check other places on the
