Anti-Racism Trainings and Discussions 1) Level I -- Introductory Anti-racism Training. For all MSUM faculty, staff and students. January 25, 2008, 8:00AM-5:00PM, CMU Comstock Room A one day introductory training that engages participants in discussions of: · Definitions of racism (particularly individual vs. institutional racism) · Disadvantage, power, and privilege issues related to racism · Anti-racist/multicultural organizational development, and · Strategies to promote organizational development.
2) Level II -- Two-and-½-Day In-depth Anti-Racism Training. For all MSUM faculty, staff and students November 8, 9, & 10, 2007 · Thursday 5-9PM, CMU Ballroom, Section C · Friday 8AM-6PM, CMU 205 · Saturday 8AM-5PM, CMU 205 Level II builds on the Level I training to deepen understanding of institutional and systemic racism and suggests strategies for working change. Previous participation in Level I is not required for participation in Level II
3) Antiracist Multiculturalism Across the Curriculum Workshop. For all MSUM faculty. May 2008 (four full days after spring semester plus one day follow-up session in August 2008). Specific dates and campus location to be announced This workshop is co-sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs and TOCAR as an effort to help faculty build skills in creating inclusive curricula. Teams of faculty are encouraged to apply in order to build a coherent curriculum, but individual applications are welcome. Dr. Victor Rodriguez from California State University Long Beach and Dr. Emily Drew from Willamette University will return to work with us. Workshops from the past two years were full to capacity and received rave reviews.
If you wish to participate in the Antiracist Multiculturalism Across the Curriculum Workshop in May 2008, attendance at a Level I and/or Level II antiracism training is required.
The trainings listed above are free and all meals and materials are provided. Participants in the Antiracist Multiculturalism Across the Curriculum Workshop will each receive a $1,000 stipend.
