New Play Festival
Audition Notice
General auditions for the MSUM production of Student Directed One-Acts and New Play Festival will be held on Tuesday, October 14th , 2008 from 8:00pm – 11:00pm on the Gaede Stage.
Callback information will be forthcoming.
Performance dates are December 2nd – 5th, 2008.
For the initial audition, please prepare “2” contrasting monologues that is no more than 90 seconds in length. A sign up sheet will be posted on the Theatre callboard. In choosing your monologues, please take the following into consideration:
- You are auditioning for several directors and several different styles of theatre, therefore, your audition package should showcase your versatility.
- Don’t re-invent the wheel – use pieces that you have used already this semester because your peers have not seen you at auditions.
- Your involvement with the Student Directed One-Acts and New Play Festival should be taken as seriously as any mainstage production. This should not be viewed as “beneath” or “less than.” If this is your attitude, please do not audition.
- A listing of all the plays being cast plus casting breakdown and short synopsis will be available prior to the audition date.
- If you do not have any prepared audition pieces, “sides” will be available for your use.
Note: Using the “sides” in lieu of prepared pieces will not be viewed negatively.
Callbacks will consist of readings from several scripts.
