Industrial Management

Industrial Management

As we move into the 21st century, business and industry is going to have an increasing need for people with the unique blend of technical and managerial skills Industrial Management (IM) graduates have. MSU Moorhead IM students learn from qualified MSUM faculty but also from practicing business professionals who teach courses in their specialization. Examples of current adjunct faculty are:

  • Cost Analysis and Methods of Improvement taught by an industrial consultant with over 20 years of practiced experience.

  • Project Management taught by a business consultant with extensive experience with international computer software company.

  • Industrial Process Control taught by an automation specialist from a regional food processor.

  • Fluid Power Technology taught by an R&D Specialist from an international manufacturing company.

The blend of technology and management courses makes for an interesting curriculum of study. A majority of the Technology Department courses will have a lab component in which the student will have a hands-on learning experience. By reviewing the student-advising sheet you will see the IM major divided into two sections. The IM major is composed of a group of technical management courses focusing on current management techniques plus a group of technical courses focusing on manufacturing and related technologies.

While the IM major may seem to have a manufacturing focus, IM graduates will find employment in a wide variety of business settings. Check out the Job Placement tab for a listing of past IM graduate placement.
