Scheduling/Circulation

All films and videos are available without charge to the faculty members only of the Tri-College University for use at Concordia College, Minnesota State University Moorhead, and North Dakota State University.

Films and videos may be checked out on a 1 - 3 day basis, or longer if extended use is necessary. Renewals may be requested if the title is not needed by another faculty member. Renewed items are subject to recall. Returning films promptly will help to ensure accessibility. The TCU Film Library does not provide mailing or rental service.

Students may not check out films or videos. Minnesota State University Moorhead, Concordia College and North Dakota State University students wishing to use film library materials for a class project or for student teaching must have their professor or campus student teaching advisor check out the film or video for them.

Please reserve film and video materials well in advance of the viewing date. Make your request by title, catalog number and specific use date(s) to ensure accuracy. Know which format you are ordering, e.g. 16mm film, VHS video, DVD, or laserdisc. The user is responsible for having appropriate projection equipment available.

TCU Faculty (Concordia College, MSUM, or NDSU) may schedule film and video materials in person or by telephone through the TCU Film Library, Livingston Lord Library 123, MSUM, 477-2976, or via e-mail to tcufilm@mnstate.edu. Barcode numbers (those starting with 2010400, 2010800, or 2010900) must be provided to Film Library personnel before films/videos can be reserved.

Web Catalog Access

The Tri-College University Film Library Web Catalog is searchable by Subject Headings  and Catalog Browse. A list of recent acquisitions can be found under New Titles. To reserve film library materials through this website click on the "Reserve This Title" button located after each film description.

More detailed search options are available through the MnPALS library catalog. One option allows advanced searches of library and film library materials by keyword and format. The search must be limited to video recordings. If the film or video is part of the Tri-College University Film Library collection the location will read "Tri-College Univ. Film TRI FILM LIBRARY." Another option is to search only the film library. Under "Libraries and Collections" select "Film Library" and proceed with a basic search. Again, please note that it is not possible to check availability or to reserve film library materials through this website.

For more information about search options, contact Jane Krajeck at 477-2976 or via e-mail at tcufilm@mnstate.edu.

Purchase Recommendation Procedure

The TCU Film Library purchases videos that have been requested by the consortium faculty members. New titles are added to the collection twice a year. It is necessary for faculty members to get support for their requests from at least one of the other two campuses in order for their requests to be considered for purchase. Recommendations for new titles may be submitted to the Film Library throughout the year by filling out the on-line Tri-College University Film Library purchase request form . Please note that it is important to forward a brochure or catalog describing the program to Jane Krajeck at the TCU Film Library, Livingston Lord Library 123, MSUM.
