    The Association of Teachers of Japanese Bridging Project
    Offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan. Funding from private foundations and major U.S. corporations has made it possible for ATJ to award 60-100 scholarships annually to assist students with the travel and living expenses they will incur while studying abroad in Japan for a semester or an academic year. In addition, Morgan Stanley Japan will offer two scholarships of $7,500 to students who have an interest in economics and finance, who will study in Japan the entire 2010-2011 academic year, and who submit a supplementary research paper.

IIE Study Abroad Funding Has a comprehensive database of study abroad scholarships. fellowships, and grants to help make your dream of studying abroad a financial possibility and a profound reality.

    IIE administers the Fullbright Program and the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, and the National Security Education Program David L. Boren Scholarships and Fellowships.

    • Fullbright Scholarship
      For students who will have earned their bachelor's degree prior to grant start date to continue research, teaching, or study in another country.
    • Benjamin A Gilman
      Offers a competition for awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.
    • Boren Awards for International Study
      Provides unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and professional graduate students to add an important international and language component to their educations. It focuses on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad.

    Glimpse
    Students apply and are "hired" as correspondents for the Glimpse project and are required to submit stories and photographs, and possibly videos. Correspondents are given a $600 stipend for their work and it is published by National Geographic. A great opportunity for Mass Comm, Film, and Photography students. The program is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 34 who will be working, volunteering, or studying outside of their home country for at least 10 weeks.

    Japan America Society of Minnesota
    Sponsors the Mondale Award for Japan-Minnesota Partnership, which awards $3,000 yearly to Minnesota students studying in Japan (either three $1,000 awards or two $1,500 awards).

    John T. Petters Foundation
    The Foundation develops scholarships for students to enroll in highly regarded international study and volunteer programs so they might gain international experience that extends beyond traditional classroom academic. It aligns with non-profit organizations to provide financial support to students who are in need and are affiliated with their programs to further their education.

    Phi Kappa Phi
    More than $700,000 is awarded each year to outstanding students, Phi Kappa Phi members and chapters through the Society's various awards competitions: the Fellowship, Phi Kappa Phi Scholar & Artist, Study Abroad Grants, Literacy Grants, and Love of Learning. Phi Kappa Phi sets high standards for its award recipients. Selection committees comprised of representatives from each of the Society's five regions carefully review all applications. Applicants are evaluated based on numerous factors, including experiences, and quality and scope of proposed program.

    Rhodes Scholarships
    Each year 32 students from U.S. colleges and universities receive all-expense paid, two-year scholarships for study at Oxford University through Rhodes Trust.

    Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships
    The scholarships, which are designed to further international understanding and goodwill, provide for study abroad for one year in one of the 162 countries and 35 geographical regions where Rotary clubs are located. Some 1,200 scholarships will be available from clubs worldwide.
