Overview
MSUM Department of Art and Design Figure Drawing Co-op is a student-run program. It is open to students, faculty, and community artists. The majority of the sessions involve the nude model, but portrait models are also employed. Co-op is non-instructional. There are no lectures or demonstrations.
Cost
Cost for tri-college students is $20 for the semester.
Cost for faculty members and community artists is $25 for the semester.
Please note that Co-op is unable to provide refunds or credit towards another semester if you choose not to attend after paying or only attend a few sessions.
Pro-rated fees are also not offered, should you choose to enroll later in the semester.
How to sign up
Payment is made at the MSUM Business Office, which is on the first floor of Owens Hall. Owens Hall is located on the corner of 11th Street and 9th Avenue. The Business Office is open 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Tell them that you are paying into account 900571.
Bring your receipt to Co-op and give to Dustin Young or Adam Tollefsrud, Student Co-op Coordinators, as proof of payment.
You may attend as few or as many sessions of the semester as you wish. You may also attend all or parts of each model session. However, please observe studio etiquette and only enter or exit the room during model breaks.
Other
Artists may work in any media. However, keep in mind that the studio is not well-ventilated for work with non-water-based solvents. Only odorless solvents may be used. Oil brushes must be cleaned up in the painting studio, CA 173, not in the sink in CA 169. In addition, oil painters must take care to wipe down their easels at the end of each session, as this is a drawing studio and oils can easily destroy drawing students' projects. No solvents, brushes, etc. may be left in the room. If they are, they will be promptly thrown away.
There is no storage for supplies and artwork for community artists. Plan to take all supplies and work with you each evening.
Further questions or inquiries may be addressed to Co-op Advisor, Sherry Lee Short.
