Odd Fellows

Freemasons      The Independent Order of Odd Fellows was founded in Great Britain in the early 1800's.  The first North American lodge was located in New York City around 1806.  The American lodge was founded by five members from the English order.

The Odd Fellows in America suffered from difficulties associated with the political landscape, these being the War of 1812 and poor attendance from members in the New York Lodge.

The roots for the organization as it exists today are from the lodge founded in Baltimore in 1819.

The Odd Fellows were one of the largest fraternal organizations in the nation during the golden age of fraternities.  The golden age being the latter end of the  19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries.

The Odd Fellows compared to the other fraternities examined had the least influence on Moorhead and Clay County.
