MSUM offers secondary education licensure programs in 9 content areas:
To earn licensure in one of these areas, a student must complete three requirements:
1. liberal studies
2. a major in the teaching field
3. the secondary education core classes, including student teaching.
Details about each category are provided below.
The secondary education coordinator provides general advising on the education core. The student's official advisor, however, is usually the program coordinator in the major subject area.
The second requirement for a Secondary or K-12 teaching degree is a college major in the teaching field. Successful completion of core education classes fulfills the last of three basic requirements for a Secondary or K-12 teaching degree. Teacher Ed Pages
