Residence Halls Recycling Program
In Fall 2004, a dorm recycling program was developed and implemented by the Sustainable Campus Initiative. The program included
collection bins for paper, plastic, and pop cans in every MSUM residence hall and a staff of Recycling
Assistants paid with Green Fee funds to operate the program.
Recycling is picked up by Minnkota. Please note what types of items are not accepted for recycling, and follow the rules outlined below. Thank you for participating in this program!

Other Recycling Opportunities On (and Off) Campus:
- CARDBOARD:There is a cardboard recycling dumpster near the John Nuemaier Apartments. This dumpster is for corrugated cardboard only, and boxes MUST be flattened. These dumpsters are NOT for shoe boxes, cereal boxes, or pizza boxes (shoe and cereal boxes are made of paperboard and pizza boxes are not recyclable because of their contact with food and grease).
- GLASS: Glass is only recyclable in the CMU. There are no glass recycling bins in the dorms due to liability reasons. Please rinse the containers and remove caps; there is no need to remove the label.
- MAGAZINES:Magazines are not recyclable in the dorms, but there are recycling bins for them in Flora Frick (the Mass Communications building). Please rip out the paper subscription cards.
- TIN CANS:Tin cans are not recyclable on campus; please rinse them and bring them to MinnKota.
