Thank you for your
interest in our magazine. Red Weather publishes fiction, short
stories, poems, interviews,
imaginative essays, art
work and b/w photography. Red Weather’s intention is to
publish the best writing available from MSUM undergraduate and
graduate student, faculty,
staff, and
alumni.
We invite you to submit your finest work.
Other than the Graduate and Undergraduate prose and poetry prizes,
Red Weather does not pay in cash.
Contributors will receive copies of the journal.
Prose Guidelines:
Submit up to two (2) short stories or
personal essays, 3500 word limit per piece. Submit up to
three (3) flash fiction, word limit 750 per piece.
Submit up to two (2) one act plays. Please review and spell check your
work before submitting. We will edit prose using standard
spelling and punctuation usage, unless you notify editors
otherwise.
Poetry Guidelines:
Submit up to five (5) poems in any style. Two page maximum per poem.
Please no longer than two pages in length for each individual
poem submission. Poetry submissions will be printed as submitted. Given
the nature of poetry, it is often difficult to distinguish atypical
punctuation and misspellings as mistakes, or as intentional. Please
submit your poetry as you wish it to appear when published.
Send submissions as a single Word document vs. separate documents for each poem.
Graphic Guidelines:
Submit up to five (5) original black and white photos or graphics
and artwork. Submit up to five (5) High Resolution photos of original paintings or sculptures.
Original copies will not be
returned.
All Submission Guidelines:
Submissions must be original, unpublished work.
Simultaneous submissions are acceptable.
Submissions will not be returned.
All Entries are by Blind Submission: Author's name CANNOT appear on the
manuscript! Include name, address, phone number, and email in the
body of the submission email, but leave contact information off the
attached document.

Send work as an attachment in WORD
(.doc) format (No Word Perfect formats, or .docx, please). (Please do not send
work "in-line" as it may ruin the formatting when imported.) Provide
the cover sheet informational at the top of your email, followed by the attachment of your
prose or poetry.
