All I really have to say is that I received the Excellence in Art and Design Scholarship for the second year in a row. My presentation went really well last week and I was feeling really confident. I met President Barden today and all of the current award winners and him got our pictures taken. I kind of forgot about the picture, and was dressed for printmaking (which was what I had just before the photo), so I had to bike home and change into something respectable (apparently looking like an artist is much different from being and Excellence winner, aka artist) and I had to run to the President's office and take my shoes off and people laughed at me. But I guess it would be a slightly amusing sight.

Work work work. I'm starting lithography in printmaking. My professor keeps telling me how much I'm going to love it, so I think there's a lot of hype to live up to. I've ground down the stone, and should be able to start drawing on it anytime now. The Juried Student show is next week, and I have one of two pieces ready for exhibition. I really have to figure out how to get my monotype print figured out so I can display it. I hope I get accepted and maybe I'll even win something like I did last year. That'd be cool.

I'm making spaghetti sauce (the Hoffman recipe). Or at least I'm defrosting some meat, but I will be making sauce. And doing laundry. And catching up on some reading.

Sigh.

Today's been a long day.

Mood: tired, not really working, preoccupied

It is officially spring break. It is a very needed break, although I have to wait three more days before my real break starts. My flight to Malibu is on Tuesday, but I have to somehow stave off loneliness and boredom until then. I decided to go to Mandan for a few days to visit my parents. I haven't been home since Christmas break, so it will be nice to see my big cats and sit by the fire outside.

Last weekend my roommate, Rosie, and I went to see MSUM's production of CATS. It was really awesome. The set was very well constructed, the lighting was fantastic, the dancing was impressive and the costumes, of course, were super cool. Aren't you glad I can think of that many synonyms for 'awesome'? I am... It always brings me back to high school, when my friends and I were determined to put on a backyard production of CATS, casting whoever we saw fit to play a part, regardless of their objections. Of course it never happened, but the dream was there... So seeing a live production of it really made my day.

I got a letter in the mail saying I got a $1000 Upperclass Scholarship. That was really exciting. I was expecting to get the scholarship, as I have gotten it the past two years, but those previous scholarships were only for $500, so this was a pleasant (and very welcomed) surprise. Which brings me to the Excellence in Art and Design scholarship. I should be finding out soon if I am a finalist for this year. It's pretty suspenseful. I think there's going to be a lot more competition this year. I don't think many people applied last year, but I really have no idea how many applied this year... Maybe that will be worth more than last year as well. Heck, I may not even have to pay tuition...

Drawing Guild is fine tuning our plans to go to Chicago once school lets out for the summer. We finally found a strategically placed hotel, and a friend of mine who lives in the city gave me a lot of ideas for things to do. We have a headcount, more or less, and a means of transportation... It'll be great. We're all rather excited. I also heard from one of the members that she and I might have to apply for our BA exhibition for next FALL. Scary! Since I'm taking my 400-level drawing class in the summer, I'll be done with my drawing stuff one semester early. I neglected to think about that! The deadline for registration for that is during break, so I really hope Jane will check her email and answer my questions and hopefully accept my application...

Matt and his roommates decided spur of the moment to drive to Florida for break. They're pretty much ridiculous. I'm pretty worried that they're going to get lost or their car's going to break down or they're going to get arrested (who knows how) or something. I have no idea, but I wouldn't put anything past those three. They're meant for trouble. But, eh, they'll hopefully have fun, so I shouldn't rain on their parade.

And now here I am, sitting at work, not doing anything because no one's coming in. I have two and a half hours left before I can close, and that long to sit and watch the battery run out on my laptop.

cheers. Have a lovely week. Tune in next time for more words.
