Welcome back, me. Forgive me for my long absence. It has been a hectic and quite productive semester.

Update:

Finals start this week. Am I ready? Quite possibly. I didn't think so a few days ago, but I finally got on a roll with my projects, and everything is seeming to come together.

I'm working on my art for my BA show in the spring. I'm working pretty large, which is uncommon for me, but I'm enjoying it. Printmaking is going well. I'm done with my projects for the most part, so that takes a lot of stress out of finals. I'm writing my art history research paper on e.e. cummings, and it started out a bit rough, but I finally got to the parts that I really know well, so it's coming along nicely. I gave my presentation last week, and I think that went really well, so that's a plus.

I no longer work at the coffee shop, because I found something much more exciting and that will prove to be a good career for me: I am now a tattoo apprentice at Dead Rockstar, which is so so cool and fun. I will be doing my first tattoo tomorrow on my boyfriend. I'm really excited. I'll be moving back home for the summer to work at the new shop in Bismarck (soon to be opened). That will be fun (and I don't have to pay rent....).

I can't believe that the semester is almost over. It's gone so fast that I barely remember what I've done so far. I feel like I should have another couple of months left of the semester, but instead it's only a week and a half.

Fuego Tropical performed its last performance of the semester last night. We did pretty well, although I did break a blood vessel in my finger, so that's all bruised and sore, but other than that, I had a good time playing. I think I might try my luck at singing next year. I love my Celia, so I think it might work out.

Next semester I'll be done with Drawing Studio, so that opens up some free time for me to work on other projects (commissions, printmaking, etc...). I'll be working in the Printmaking Studio as a teaching assistant for the Intro students, which I think will be challenging, but also pretty fun. Then I'll be back to take my last general and finish up my BA requirements (Contemporary Art, Design and Theory). Hopefully it'll be a slightly laid back semester

And that's that for the update. Right on.

Location: My (not so new anymore) house

Mood: unmotivated to work

Alas, school is about to start again. Two more weeks. Strangely, I'm pretty excited to get back into the groove of things again. It'll be my senior (but not final) year at MSUM and I'll be working towards my Bachelor of Arts degree. It's nice to have all of my classes wheedling down to just the last few drawing and art history classes, although I do have one general left. That is a little lame, but I have to finish it. One more science course. I'm really considering pushing it back until spring semester, just because my (work) schedule might be a little nicer that way. So far I'll be taking Drawing Studio 401, Printmaking Studio 301, 20th Century Art 490, Percussion Ensemble (I can't give that up!), and (hopefully not) Human Biology 104. Maybe the thing that pushed me to want to hold off on the Bio class is having to buy so many books this semester. I've gotten used to only having to buy one or two books, and then mostly art supplies, but I have three books for art history and the bio books and they're all pretty expensive (although I did find one of the books for $9 at www.half.com...), so I'd probably save more money this semester if I waited on the bio. I also don't have to take a drawing studio spring semester, so that opens up time for me.

I think this next semester will be fun and busy. Definitely busy. Hopefully I'll still have time to go to the gym and maybe read some books.

In other art-related news, I have a show up at Atomic Coffee (222 Broadway, Fargo) for the whole month of August, so go see some of my artwork! Then after that, the Drawing Guild managed to get the first ever college student show at the Plains Art Museum (downtown Fargo, 1st St?) Oct. 11-Jan. 27. That is seriously so amazing. I am so excited and it's going to be incredible!

Now I have to go to work. Hasta luego!
