KEEPING YOUR CHILD SAFE
Keeping your son or daughter safe is a major concern of the University. Fortunately, MSUM has an excellent relationship with local law enforcement, and the campus is located in a safe residential community.
Community safety
The Fargo-Moorhead community is safe. But don’t take our word for it. Morgan Quitno’s Press repeatedly ranks the Fargo-Moorhead area as being a safe community, including the 2005 City Crime Ranking of being the 12th safest city in populations over 75,000; North Dakota has been ranked the “Safest State” for the eighth time in 12 years (March 2005); and Fargo-Moorhead is among the top 25 safest metropolitan areas in the entire nation (November 2003).
Campus safety
Minnesota State University Moorhead Campus Security and the Moorhead Police Department work together to provide a safe environment for the campus and the community. The MSUM Campus Security/Moorhead Police Substation is located on the MSUM campus and is believed to be the first joint facility of its kind in the state of Minnesota for Police and Security. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day by Campus Security staff, and there is a Moorhead Police volunteer at the reception desk from 12-8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
