READY TO MOVE?
If and when you decide to move off campus, make sure to plan for it. You can’t just renege on your signed housing contract, so make sure it’s the right thing for you. Off-campus living is generally more expensive, especially if you’re living on your own.
Finding a place
The best place to look for off-campus apartments is the Fargo Forum. Check out the newspaper or go online to fine tune your search. Abundant options are available in Fargo and Moorhead. Check out the Apartment Headquarters.
Post it
Around mid-year posters start popping up around campus of people looking for a roommate or an apartment. Make sure to check things out carefully before committing!
Ask around
Your friends might know of someone looking for a place or for a roommate. This usually helps in knowing that the person you’re considering moving in with is a friend of a friend.
House or apartment sit
Sometimes faculty members are looking for someone to house sit or sublet an apartment while they’re on sabbatical. These furloughs usually last a semester or a year and can be a great housing option without a long-term commitment.
