The FM area is a virtual smorgasbord of dining choices—American, Asian, Bosnian, Chinese, Greek, Korean, Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, Mexican and Vietnamese. With more than 250 restaurant choices, from fine dining to family style to fast food, you’re sure to find a place for your palette and your budget.

Need a caffeine buzz?
If you’re not in the mood for a full meal, check out some of the area’s awesome coffee shops. Some feature live music, musings and poetry readings. You’ll find quaint shops with lots of personality and interesting personalities inside! Atomic Coffee, Café Perk, Ethel Java are a few student hot spots worth checking out.

Shop around
F-M offers a variety of shopping experiences and stores. West Acres Mall is the largest shopping center in the region with over 120 stores and restaurants. The area also features traditional neighborhood shopping centers, small shopping malls, major retail outlets, discount stores and antique shops.

Catch a movie
You can watch new releases at Century 10 or West Acres movie theaters; return to the days of old by attending independent films at the restored vintage movie palace, Fargo Theatre; or, if you're short a few bucks, head to the Safari Theater in Moorhead where tickets cost only $1.50.  Be sure to keep your eyes open for MSUM student filmmakers—they show their films every fall and spring!

Attend a Tri-College University event
Local college students are lucky to have three colleges nearby—MSU Moorhead, Concordia College and North Dakota State University. Each school features outstanding student performances in theatre, music, dance and art. They also bring world and nationally renowned performers to campus, sponsor lectures and visiting artists, and have successful sports teams to follow.

Hockey fans who can’t make it to watch the Sioux will appreciate the opportunity to watch Fargo-Moorhead’s Junior A hockey team, the FM Jets, who were the 2004-05 NAHLWest Champions and National Runners Up. Or hang out at Newman Field and watch the FM Redhawks, an independent minor league baseball team, in action throughout the spring and summer.

Get in the local scene
If you can’t get enough of the college scene, check out the opportunities locally—a symphony, community theatre, opera company, jazz arts group, museums and art galleries. If you can’t find something to do in Fargo-Moorhead, you aren’t looking.

Park it
There are nearly 40 parks in Fargo-Moorhead, including our favorite, Buffalo River State Park, located 15 miles east of Moorhead. The park and MSUM’s Regional Science Center Buffalo River Site is 300 acres of prairie, woods, and river communities, with an interpretive center and an observatory. A number of classes are held at the science center every year, too.
