Policy

Key or card access is to be granted to Faculty, Staff, Students, and Vendors with the Department Dean’s prior approval. Permission must be requested via the online request form.

Procedure

To acquire access for Faculty/Staff, Students or Vendors, the following steps must be taken:

• Permission must be requested via the online request form.
• All fields must be entered.
• All key or card extensions must be requested via the online extension form.
• All key or card requests/extensions must be requested by the Administrative Assistants and Deans.
• All keys or card access issued to Vendors or Contractors must be cleared through the Director of the Physical Plant, Chief Engineer, or Director of Housing.
• Keys can be picked up only during business hours 7:00am–5:00pm, Monday through Friday at the Public Safety building.
• All keys must be signed for and picked up by the person receiving the keys.
• Keys and cards are not to be loaned, transferred, give possession of, misused, modified, copied, or altered.
• Failure to return keys within a week of the due date to the Key and Card Access office will require late/lost fee of $25 per key to MSUM. No other keys will be issued until all outstanding fines have been paid.
