Class Goals:  What should you get from this class.
•    Motivation to learn chemistry because knowing it is important and relevant to our lives;
•    An Understanding of fundamental chemical concepts;
•    The way to discover some theoretical and practical applications of chemistry;
•    The ability to locate information and address technical issues;
•    Help students develop their analytical skills, critical judgments, and abilities to recognize and assess risks and benefits
The bottom line for me is that you leave this class as a member of society that better understands the chemistry around you so that you can make intelligent and informed decisions.

Extra Credit - Due on Tuesday, July 1 Turn in class (20 pts)
Two pages (
12 pt font single spaced.) on the pros and cons of ND proposition 2020.

Your paper must include several references and go into the details of the proposals.  There are links below to help.  Discuss both what the proposal is about AND the changes that are predicted to take place if the proposal passes.  ALSO include the CHEMISTRY of what the proposal is about.  You will have to search for some of the con discussions, one of the links to the right has some information.  At the END of the paper, you can spend no more than one paragraph discussing your opinion.

This is NOT an opinion piece, but should be treated as a report on what the proposal is.  Include strengths and weaknesses in the proposal and again the science behind the plans.
