Minnesota State University Moorhead
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System invites applications and nominations for President of Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Established in 1887 as a teacher education school, Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) is a comprehensive university enrolling nearly 7,700 students. MSUM comprises 32 academic departments in its four colleges: 1) College of Business & Industry 2) College of Social & Natural Sciences; 3) College of Arts & Humanities; and 4) College of Education & Human Services, and offers 135 majors and graduate degree programs in 15 academic areas. In 2007, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association re-accredited the University for ten years. MSUM has had seven Minnesota CASE Professors of the Year, more than any other institution in the state.
This year, MSUM is proud to be a National Select Institution in the Foundations of Excellence in the First College Year. MSUM is part of the Tri-College University, an educational consortium that includes Concordia College, a private college in Moorhead, and North Dakota State University in adjacent Fargo, ND. Moorhead and Fargo are at the center of a thriving metropolitan area with more than 150,000 residents, 3.5 hours northwest of the Twin Cities. Higher education is a major community enterprise, with more than 25,000 students who contribute to an atmosphere rich in arts, culture, sports, and social activities. Moorhead was named an All-America City in 2000 by the National Civic League, and the community is a great place to live and learn.
As chief executive officer of the campus, the President reports directly to the Chancellor of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System with delegated authority for the administration of the institution. More information about the System is available at www.mnscu.edu.
