Edna Szymanski

 
Szymanski was granted a Ph.D. in special education and rehabilitation 
counseling from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988 and her
master’s in rehabilitation counseling from University of Scranton (PA).
She attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, receiving her
B.S. degree in 1972. She will visit the campus on March 31st.

Before assuming her current position at University of Maine, Orono, she
was Dean of the College of Education at the University of
Maryland-College Park (1999-2006). From 1997 to 1999 she was chair of
the Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she also served as professor
(1993-1999) and associate dean (1993-1997). Szymanski has produced
numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters as well as edited books.
