Stephen Jones


Jones received his Ph.D. in Resources Management in 1987 from the College of Environmental Science and Forestry, State University of New York, Syracuse, where he received his baccalaureate degree in 1973.

Jones is currently the Chancellor at University of Alaska Fairbanks and he has held the position since 2004.  He served as Vice Chancellor for the Office of Extension and Engagement at North Carolina State University in Raleigh from 2001-04.  He was director of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System at Auburn University from 1997-2001; Assistant Director of the School of Forest Resources (1994-96), The Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA; Director of the Northeast Petroleum-Forest Resources Cooperative (1985-87), State University of New York, Syracuse.  He held various positions with Union Camp Corporation (later acquired by International Paper) from 1973-84.
