Law Clerk, Reichert Armstrong Law Firm, Grand Forks,MN
Reichert Armstrong is a general practice firm with a focus on criminal defense. At the law office, I write many legal briefs and motions for the courts, memorandums, and do plenty of legal research. I help with client intake and consultation. I assist in preparing for trial and helping the attorneys with any tasks that arise. I am a student at UND Law and will graduate in December 2011. I started law school at Creighton University in August of 2009 and transferred to UND Law after my first year in August of 2010.
Jeremy Estenson
B.A. in Political Science, 2003
Director of Government Affairs, Leonard, Street & Deinard, Minneapolis
As a lobbyist, my job is to influence lawmaking on behalf of my clients' interests. Detailed knowledge of my clients' issues and good relationships with lawmakers are the two most important keys to being successful. In the summer and fall months, I spend most of my time visiting legislators to create issue awareness and broadening my understanding of my issue areas. Minnesota's legislative session begins in January or February (depending upon the year) and ends late in May. During that time, I spend my days at the Capitol in St Paul meeting with legislators and providing information to committees with the goal of either enacting new laws or stopping those which could harm my clients.
