Mission
- Our mission is to provide efficient, quality support services to all academic departments that make up Moorhead State University so that academic programming can take place in a safe and clean environment.
Services
Classrooms and Laboratories- Daily services include picking up trash and emptying trash cans, sweeping and spot- mopping floors, straightening out desks and/or chairs, cleaning chalkboards and trays and re-supplying chalk, spot-cleaning walls, and emptying pencil sharpeners.
- Floors are damp-mopped weekly.
- Blinds and windows will be dusted and cleaned as needed.
- Daily services include picking up trash and emptying trash barrels, re-supplying soap and paper product dispensers, cleaning all fixtures and mirrors, and sweeping and wet-mopping floors.
- Restrooms are tidied up and consumables are restocked daily.
- All restrooms are disinfected daily.
- Daily services include emptying wastebaskets and pencil sharpeners and sweeping and spot-mopping floors.
- Weekly services include dusting, damp- mopping floors, and vacuuming carpeted areas on a regular basis.
- Trash will be emptied as needed.
- Floors are damp-mopped or vacuumed as needed.
- Floors will be water mopped as needed.
- Blinds and windows will be dusted/cleaned as needed.
- Hallways are swept and damp-mopped daily.
- Other daily services include emptying trash cans and ashtrays, cleaning drinking fountains, and spot-cleaning walls.
- Stairwells are swept daily and wet-mopped as needed, at least weekly.
- Handrails are cleaned and walls are spot- cleaned daily.
- All entrance areas are cleaned up to 10 feet in front of the building.
- These areas are swept daily and door glass is cleaned daily.
- Entrance doors will be cleaned daily.
- Trash will be emptied daily and liners replaced as needed.
- Carpets vacuumed/hard floors dust mopped daily.
- Hard floors will be water mopped as needed.
- Webs and dust will be removed daily.
- Drinking fountains will be cleaned and polished daily.
- Carpets will be extracted twice a year in high traffic areas and once a year in low traffic areas on the campus.
- Floors will be scrubbed and waxed/burnished as needed.
- Floors will be stripped and waxed as needed.
- Replacement of light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
- Report maintenance problems to the Physical Plant.
- Litter and trash control.
- Recycling.
- Interior pest control.
- Building security.
- Removal of snow and ice from sidewalks and entryways.
- Special events held on campus (including seminars, plays, athletic events, convocations, graduation, all outdoor events, music events, and receptions).
- Movement of office furniture and supplies.
- Interior maintenance of campus buildings.
- General repair duties, as assigned.
*Weekly services in department and faculty offices are scheduled for a specific day of the week. If the area is not available to the GMW staff on the scheduled day and time, the work usually cannot be rescheduled for another day that week; the work will be attempted the following week.
