Dragon Welcome Week 2015 will kick off with Move-in Day on Thursday, August 20th 2015!

9:00a.m.-3:00p.m. Welcome Week Check-in – Welcome Tent outside
It’s a great day to be a Dragon! Today is the day, if you
are living in the residence halls, to move in and get situated. The Dragon
Move-In Crew will be outside around the residence halls waiting to help you
move into your room. Remember to stop by
the Welcome Tent and get checked in for Orientation. This is also a great opportunity to have any
questions you may have answered.
4:00p.m.-5:00p.m. Freshman SOC Talk – Outside Residence
Dragon Welcome Week is officially about to start! Find your
Student Orientation Counselor (SOC) by using the Map-O-SOCs you were given at
check-in and the letter they sent you this summer with their name and SOC #. This
will be the beginning of your college career – a time for you to meet hundreds
of new people!
5:00p.m.-6:00p.m. Transfer SOC Talk – Outside Residence Halls
Are you transferring from another institution and feel you
already know how this college thing is done? We have Student Orientation
Counselors just for you! So make sure to meet your Transfer SOC and other
transfer students in the same boat as you because Dragon Welcome Week is
officially about to begin! Find your Student Orientation Counselor (SOC) by
using the Map-O-SOCs you were given at check-in and the letter they sent you
this summer with their name and SOC #.
and New Student Dinner – Kise Hall
a long morning of unloading and moving in, enjoy a relaxing dinner in Kise
Commons, our campus cafeteria. This typical Kise meal will include several
entrees, great desserts and a variety of soft drinks. Come try out all that is offered
at Kise Commons, catered by Sodexho Services.
7:30p.m.-8:00p.m. "Welcome to Your New Community"
– Your Residence Hall
Settle into your floor community and get to know your
Resident Assistant (RA) and neighbors! Enjoy some activities as you get
familiar with your new community and discover ways to get involved!
8:00p.m.-8:30p.m. Learning Community Welcome – Your
Are you in a Learning Community? Now is your chance to learn
more about what it means to be a part of a Learning Community and meet other
students in your community as well as your Dragon Mentor.
9:00p.m.-12:00a.m. New Student Social– Nemzek/ Scheels Field
Come on over to kick off the year with our New Student
Carnival at Scheels Field. There will be a variety of activities, food and
prizes for all to enjoy.
August 21st, 2015
8:30a.m.-9:15a.m. Class Photo – Scheels Field
It’s time to get together with your fellow classmates in the
M formation for a class photo before heading to your University Welcome.
Convocation (Mandatory for Freshman) – Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse
All Incoming students are expected to attend this kickoff
event for the class of 2019. Convocation is a ceremony to celebrate the
official beginning of your college experience.
10:30a.m.-11:30a.m. Academic Department Meetings – Throughout
After the University Welcome Convocation, follow a SOC to
your new academic department. Each academic department will host a social so
you can meet and get to know your professors and other students in your
college. This provides a great opportunity to get a feel for your major, what
to expect for the next four years, and meet some people who share the same
interests as you. If you are undeclared, that is A-Okay; we have a place for

Freshman) – Various Campus Departments
Here is your chance to understand the campus layout, get to
know campus resources and services and race to the finish with some new
3:00p.m.-6:00p.m. Sand Volleyball Tournament – Dahl Hall Volleyball Courts
Join our Intramurals staff for our annual sand volleyball
tournament. Get a team together with your FYE class or some new friends and

10:30a.m.-11:00a.m. Student Involvement and Engagement session
(Mandatory for Freshman) – Hansen
Here is your opportunity to learn about getting involved in
student organizations, various campus departments and the Fargo/Moorhead
community. You will learn how to make the most of your college experience.
11:00a.m.-2:00p.m. Sidewalk Café – Residence Halls sidewalks
Join us around the SLAB to get an idea about some of the
things MSUM and the Fargo-Moorhead community have to offer.
2:00p.m.-5:00p.m. FM Tour (Mandatory for Freshman)
The Fargo/Moorhead area is a great place to be and we want
to show it to you! Hop on the MAT bus to go downtown. These locations provide a
rich representation of the Fargo/Moorhead culture, including shops, food and
7:00p.m.-9:00p.m. Campus Capers – Center for the Arts:
camera, ACTION! Hustle over to Hansen Theatre for MSUM’s own version of
Saturday Night Live. You will be on the edge of your seat laughing, crying, and
tinkling your pants as the SOCs perform a variety of skits and offer their
words of wisdom.
9:15p.m.-12:30a.m. Dance Party and Night Games – Tennis Courts
and practice fields

T-shirt! Come with your friends or by yourself, we are sure to have a good time
dancing the night away!

12:00p.m.-6:00p.m. FM RedHawks Game – Newman Outdoor Field
Want to learn more about what’s happening in the
Fargo/Moorhead area during the summer? Be sure to check out the FM RedHawks
Game. There are a limited number of tickets, so sign up early. You can take our
provided Bus across town; grab a hot dog and a soda and enjoy some community
1:00p.m.-2:00p.m. Sorority Tea – CMU 101
Go Greek! Learn about what the different sororities on
campus have to offer you. This is a chance for you to mingle with current and
future student members.
7:00p.m.-9:00p.m. Residence Hall Floor Meeting (Mandatory)
Head back to the residence halls and take this opportunity
to meet your new family for the next year. This will give you a chance to learn
all the policies, expectations, and procedures for living in your hall. You
will be held accountable for these rules while living on campus! This is also a
great opportunity to relax and mingle with your floor-mates.
9:00p.m.-9:30p.m. Lighting of the Dragon – Campus Mall
Join us for the first annual Lighting of the Dragon where we
kick off the year sponsored by the Class of 2019! Come to the campus mall where
we have the two headed steel Dragon breathe fire and light up the campus mall!
Just a reminder that everything is subject to change,
especially times/dates, and this is tentative. New students will receive a
finalized schedule with your letter in July.
