    Operations Management majors work on professional and collaborative classroom projects that provide practical experience most valued by employers. Students gain real-world experience working with area organizations and with diverse team members. Recent class projects:

  • Celebrated Arbor Day by educating elementary students about the environment and involving them in planting trees for the Moorhead Parks Department.

    Raised money for the local Boy Scouts by holding an ice fishing tournament in Detroit Lakes.
    Managed a barbecue to raise money for the local CM Society Chapter.
    Led a study analyzing the lighting at MSUM and the cost-saving benefits for switching to Illuminated lighting.
    Assisted in the redesign of manufacturing processes at Integrity Windows.

    Developed an international community garden in Fargo, N.D., for families from Sudan, Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia and Nepal.

    Created an event to attract quality candidates to join the team of family nurse practitioners at Take Care Health Clinics.
    Improved efficiency and reduced labor costs on windows assembly line.
    Added handy service component to the Minneapolis association of Meals on Wheels, assisting the elderly in easy home repairs.
    Assisted in developing a potential database to help enlisted men track information.
    Organized a motorcycle trip to raise money for cancer.
    Lead a project to help MSUM advance their recycling capabilities.

    Repaired or cleaned senior citizens’ homes for a total of 15 properties.

    Planned and executed golf tournament to raise $5,000 for women in the Minneapolis community.
