Mission Statement
The St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center is a Catholic presence on Moorhead college campuses.
Through prayer, sacraments, social activities, and ministry experiences, we encounter the living God through each other, the Catholic Church, and our local community. We are dedicated to empowering people to grow together in faith and action by proclaiming and living the Gospel on campus.
We are looking for two college students who want to live and be active AMBASSADORS at the Newman Center, beginning this fall. Students will have an opportunity to be located in a Catholic faith environment, draw other students to a meaningful faith life, and live just down the hall from Jesus. What a deal!! Contact Shawn, 236-9596 or serickson@stjoesmhd.com or Father Raul, 236-5066 or rperez@stjoesmhd.com, if you would like more details.
This fall there will be training for students wishing to be trained as lectors or ministers of Holy Communion for Masses at St. Joseph’s Church or at the Newman Center. The lector training will be 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm and ministers of Holy Communion from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, both at St. Joseph’s church. These trainings are open to anyone interested in being trained for either of these ministries. Please keep in mind that you need to be baptized, confirmed and in good standing with the Catholic Church to serve in these ministries. Please contact Shawn if you want to sign up.
If you have not yet had a chance to sign up for Perpetual Adoration. You also may call or email the liturgy office jhardmeyer@stjoesmhd.com with your times or any questions that you may have. We hope to place a master list in The Gathering Place. Thank you to all who are considering taking this important step to a better spiritual life for yourself, your family and our parish.
Prayer is so important and it is a great way for everyone to stay connected as a community. If you want to be involved in the prayer chain all you have to do is send me an email and when a prayer request comes in, an email will be sent out asking students to pray for that need. If you don’t want to receive prayer requests that is perfectly fine. I still encourage you to send in any prayer requests you have. If you are uncomfortable sharing a certain request just send an email saying you have a special intention. So... if you have prayer requests or want to be on the email chain, send an email to ncprayers@hotmail.com.
