Music Technology Studies
at MSU Moorhead
 |
Working in the context of the Music Industry Program,
Dr. James Harley has incorporated digital audio into almost every aspect
of the MSU Moorhead Music Department. Our department boasts a multi-track
digital recording studio with direct-to-disk recording capabilities,
and sizeable computing power (Macintosh G4s and G3s) for editing, direct
digital synthesis, and signal processing.
Within the program, students experience hands-on training with both
analog and digital recording techniques. Students are taught all aspects
of the Industry from microphone recording techniques to studio etiquette.
Music Industry Majors are given the opportunity to record in various
conditions from in-studio recording sessions to live-mobile recording
as well as sound reinforcement situations. Students master and burn
their own CDs. A full scale recording project - Dragon Tracks -
is completed by students each year.
