Music Department

Commercial Keyboard

Commercial Keyboards applies traditional, pop and jazz theory to keyboard styles. Students approach playing from lead sheets as soloists and accompanists while learning to "comp" and play solo improvisations.

Commercial Voice students get "hands-on" experience both on the stage and in the recording studio while performing songs in a variety of styles. Vocal health, studio manners, stage presence, microphone fundamentals, as well as solo and multi-track recordings and performances are approached in a quasi-professional environment.

Commercial Voice and Commercial Keyboard Studies are taught by Mr. Simon Rowe. Mr. Rowe is a highly accomplished jazz pianist who performs regularly in the Fargo-Moorhead region and across the Midwest. As a member of the Music Industry faculty, he also teaches courses in sound reinforcement as well as jazz performance.
