MSU Moorhead Concert Choir

    The Concert Choir is an auditioned ensemble available to all students at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Under the direction of Dr. Charles E. Ruzicka, Professor of Music, the Choir performs a wide variety of choral music ranging from Renaissance compositions to 20th Century literature. The Choir performs on campus and tours annually. Choir rehearsals are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:00-2:50 pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-3:10 pm.

MSUM Chamber Singers

Directed by Dr. Charles E. Ruzicka, the ensemble is comprised of 10-14 singers, all of whom are members of the Concert Choir. An audition is required for membership. This group performs with the Choir at home concerts and on tour. The Chamber Singers rehearsals are held on:
    Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:50pm to 1:50pm.

In recent years, the performances and tours of the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers have included: Sea Symphony with the MSUM and North Dakota State University Choirs, The FM Chamber Choral, and the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra.

Concert Choir and Chamber Singers tour to the Pacific Northwest with concerts in Seattle, WA, Couer d'Alene, ID and Vancourver, British Columbia, Canada - May 16-23, 2003.

Concert Choir and Chamber Singers Tour to England and Scotland.

Spring Concert Tour with concerts in Milwaukee, WI, Chicago, IL, and Fergus Falls, MN.

Canadian Tour with performances in public schools and a shared concert with the Brandon University Concert Choir.

Minnesota Tour with performances in Minneapolis/St. Paul area public schools and joint concert with the University of St. Thomas Concert Choir in St. Paul.

Spring Tour with performances at Rust College, Holly Springs, Mississippi, St. Louis and Kansas City, Missouri, and Memphis, Tennessee.

Fine Arts Series performance with the Dale Warland Singers.

MSUM performance of Persichetti's Celebrations with the MSUM Wind Ensemble.

Festival Women's Choir

    The Festival Women's Choir, under the direction of Dr. Rodney Rothlisberger, is open to all women who wish to sing. The choir performs a wide variety of choral music: sacred and secular, folksongs and spirituals, accompanied and a cappella, old and new. Concerts are presented throughout the academic year both on and off campus, often in cooperation with the other Minnesota State University choral ensembles. In addition, the Festival Women's Choir performs at the Minnesota Choral Directors Association's annual Women's Choir Festival at St. John's University each October. The Festival Women's Choir meets Monday through Thursday, from 2:00-2:50 p.m.

 

 


    The Festival Mixed Choir, under the direction of Dr. Rodney Rothliberger, is open to all university students (for balance purposes, women are admitted by auditions, which are held during the first week of classes each semester). This choir performs a broad selection of choral music throughout the year in cooperation with the Festival Women's Choir and the Concert Choir.The Festival Mixed Choir rehearses Monday through Thursday, from 11:00-11:50 p.m.
