MLA Program Checklist

1. MLA - General Requirements

____ 31 Credits Total. Four (4) of these are Thesis credits (i.e. 27 credits + 4 credits of Thesis. See p. 21,57,58,59 Graduate Bulletin, or go to: Graduate Bulletin (Bulletin downloads as PDF document).

____ Oral Exam (by committee). Announcement of exam (Form 3) must be 2 weeks prior to end of semester of graduation (see p.14 of the Graduate Bulletin and Graduate Studies Deadline Calendar from Graduate Bulletin).

____ Portfolio. 3 weeks prior to graduation. See Portfolio Guidelines and Sample: Portfolio Guidelines

2. General Degree Requirements

A. ____ Advisor: May be MLA Program Director or any MLA faculty at request of student & consent of instructor at any point in degree program.

B. ____ Proposed Graduate Plan of Study: Graduate Bulletin). ASAP. Submit updated plan prior to graduation.

____ Form I (Proposed Plan of Study).

Note: MLA Course Offerings:: Director strives to offer two MLA designated courses per semester, one Hispanic Emphasis course each semester and one MLA summer course.

E. ____ Institutional Review Board (IRB). Graduate Bulletin). Allow at least 4 weeks for this approval process. If you are doing a Thesis project that uses any type of “human subjects,” you must get IRB approval.

____ Form 4 (Application for Graduation).
____ Academic Garb (p.15 Graduate Bulletin). Must be ordered 8 weeks prior to graduation.
____ Hood. Sent to Graduate Studies Office 1 week prior to graduation.
