I.            Introductions -- people present introduced themselves.

II.            Upcoming Collaborative Meetings

                        April 8, NDSU

May 13, YWCA -- Celebration of accomplishments!

III.            Organizational Updates

YWCA -- Lysa reported that the Y team's TOCAR identity statement and organizational guidelines have been approved by the Y Board of Directors.  This approval process has been a long one but the approval is enabling the work to move forward.  The anti-racism team is primarily in phase 1, team development, but it was acknowledged by the Collaborative group that team development continues in every stage of a team's life.

The Y's team is having a retreat on March 17. Work groups will be formed and Y staff not on the team will be included in these work groups.

NDSU -- Sandy reported that TOCAR NDSU will be sending a couple of people to Luther Seminary in the cities for an MCARI training.  Members of the team are also providing an educational session on white privilege to the NDSU extension service staff.  Members of the team providing the training are Larry Peterson, Jen Krueger, William Nganje, Tom Carlson, and Josh Bosche.

The team is also sponsoring two follow-up discussions in April for NDSU campus community members who went through an MCARI training this semester.  More people on campus are requesting additional trainings.

The NDSU team feels that it is in the assessment phase (phase II).

MSUM -- Phyllis reported on the 5 anti-racism trainings that were sponsored by MSUM TOCAR on the MSUM campus in February.  The team also facilitated 4 follow-up discussions for those who participated in the trainings.  The MSUM team is in the team development and assessment stages.

Concordia -- Joy reported that the Concordia TOCAR team is meeting regularly.  Subcommittees of the team are reporting in April to the CC Community Relations Committee on the team's recommendations.  On March 19, the team is sponsoring a training and community forum facilitated by the ELCA anti-racism project.  Additionally, 4-5 Concordia people will be attending an ELCA anti-racism training in June.  The Concordia team feels that they are in Phase II.  Phyllis recommended that the Concordia team get in touch with Karen McKinney, a member of the anti-racism team at Bethel College.

IV.       Level II trainings

Amy reminded the group that MCARI is providing two Level II trainings in April and May.  If any team would like to send members to these trainings they should contact Carmen Valenzuela.

V.            Institutional Assessment Survey

Joy reported that Concordia's faculty/staff survey was administered the first week of March.  Amy reported that, due to issues related to online administration of the survey, MSUM and NDSU will be administering the survey in the Fall.  NTC will be contacted to see if they too would like to wait until the fall.  The student survey will be administered on all four campuses in the fall.  Deb White of MSUM is now chairing the assessment committee and overseeing the development of the student survey (and thanks to Kay Schneider of Concordia for all her hard work in overseeing the development of the faculty/staff survey!!).

VI.       Grant writing

Amy and Phyllis reported that they would be submitting another grant proposal to the Bremer foundation in April.  They would like to write in financial support for all organizations.  Amy will email leadership at each organization reminding them to develop a dollar amount they would like to request (and for what purpose) and to email this information to Phyllis.

Phyllis will have a budget statement from the first grant prepared for everyone to review at the May Collaborative meeting.

VII.      May meeting

At the May meeting, the primary agenda will be celebration!  The location will be the YWCA, 3100 12th Ave. N., Fargo and refreshments will be provided.  Plan to attend with your campus' list of successes and accomplishments.  We have much to celebrate!!

Meeting adjourned at 5:30pm
