1.                  Locating Materials in the Curriculum Materials Center

a.      Curriculum Bulletins/Guides

                                                                i.      Paper copies on shelves on the 2nd Floor

                                                             ii.      Kraus Curriculum Development Library (microfiche collection).  Use Kraus Curriculum Dev. Collection Online on the web -- A searchable collection of nearly 5,000 curriculum guides, including frameworks, objectives, teaching units, lesson plans, etc.  covers early childhood through adult basic education. Here's a handout on how to search in Kraus Online.

b.      Textbooks  

Locate textbooks by adding the word "sample text" to your WebPALS search. For example:

Textbooks are located in a special section on the 2nd floor.

c.      Multi-media Materials  

To locate multimedia/audiovisual materials -- limit your search by FORMAT in WebPALS. For example:

Step One:  Do a search for your topic by keyword or subject heading keyword

Step Two: Click "Limit Search"

Step Three:  Limit your search by format (Note: Audiovisual is the broadest limit for multimedia materials.  You can limit specifically to "video tape" as one example):

d.      Juvenile Books  

Do a search for a topic in WebPALS and add the word "juvenile" to your keyword or subject heading keyword search. For example:

3.                  Locating Lesson Plans/Related Resources on the Internet

a.     On the CMC (Curriculum Materials Center) web page www.mnstate.edu/cmc, click on “Internet Links,” and then click on “Lesson Plans/Teaching Resources.”  You will find GEM in the alphabetical order.  This is one of the best lesson plan sites. You can limit to a specific grade level, topics, and more.

b.      On this same site above, click on “Speech/Theatre” for other links.
