  A Government publication, O*NET replaces the Dictionary of Occupational Titles published by the U.S. Employment and Training Administration, offering up-dated data. "The network is a collaborative association of organizations, agencies, and businesses, combining and complementing efforts to develop occupational information resources and counseling."

Selecting a Major (and Career)

• Counseling and Personal Growth Center, Moorhead State University Among other helpful resources, The Counseling Center offers career/major assessment. First, you must set up an appointment with a Counselor. They offer many assessment opportunities, including the Myers-Briggs Personality Indicator and the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory. The Counselor will meet with you to discuss your results.

5. Search Tip: On WebPALS, do a Subject Heading Keyword for "vocational guidance." If you limit it to only items published 1997 to the present, you will get very recent books on the topic. Other Subject Heading Keyword searches that yield valid results include "career development," "job seeking," and "occupations."
