Study In China
MSUM has an exchange program with Nankai University in Tianjin, China. Students can choose to study there for one semester or a whole year. They will earn 12 - 16 credits per semester through Minnesota State University Moorhead while studying at Nankai University. Financial Aid
Qualified students can apply for financial aid and other scholarships for studying in China. The increased cost of studying overseas, which includes airfare, local transportation, books and personal allowances, will be taken into consideration when determining needs.
About Nankai University
Nankai University serves about 11,000 students and is adjacent to Tianjin University, which has another 11,000 students. Nankai is strong in arts and humanities as well as applied research and advanced work in management / economics. It is one of the top ten universities in China.
Foreign students live in a special foreign student dormitory. Rooms are furnished with two beds, an air conditioner, desks and bookshelves. Each room has a full bathroom. Each student dormitory has a dining room for its residents. It offers mainly Chinese dishes, but may also have a selection of western dishes.

About Tianjin City
Tianjin is the fourth largest city in China and a major international port and trading center. Population is 9 million. It takes about one and a half hours to Beijing by train.
The city became important in the 14th century when grain brought to the capital along the Grand Canal was stored there. By the 15th century, it became a garrison town completely encircled by walls. In the mid-19th century, after China signed treaties with Britain and France at Tianjin, concessions were established there by the occupying powers. By the end of the century, eight foreign countries had forced concessions upon China. It was during that period that Tianjin developed a European character. The restored old town, with narrow streets and bazaars and architecture from the concession era, gives the city a unique flavor.
Internship Program
Students may choose to do an internship in China and earn MSUM credits. Currently John Foster is doing an internship at Xinhenyuan Commercial Investment Consultants Co. in Tianjin. He will work there for one semester and earn 12 credits. Eligible students can receive financial aid while doing internships.
