This is Duchess (Royal Duchess Revisited) the new kid on the block (1999).  Her registered name is a throwback to our first golden retriever, Penny (Penelope of Royal Duchess).  A disproportionate number of photos in this collection are of her.  We bought her at 6 1/2 weeks and took her duck hunting the very next day.  The grass was way over her head, but she was quite the little trooper.  When she got cold and tired she burrowed underneath my parka and curled up for a nap.  The shotgun blasts didn't scare her.  I didn't do much actual bird hunting in the fall of 1999 because I was official puppy-sitter and puppy-carrier.   All day treks are just too much when your legs are only a few inches long!
