I've crossed the equator a few times, but this was the first time that I had actually stood on it.  Note the man in the background on the bicycle.  I was surprised to see black men all over the country, even in rural areas, wearing suit jackets.  I also saw several flea market-like areas with mounds and mounds of obviously western style clothing.  My conclusion is that donations of clothing from other nations has created a secondary cottage industry in Kenya.  They're still made of sterner stuff than me.  I can't imagine wearing a heavy jacket in the equatorial sun.  I went for light cotton shirts and pants that zipped off to shorts.  You know, it's the sort of stuff you can roll in a ball and not necessarily look like you've slept in your clothes!
