No, this isn't the Red River Valley of Minnesota and North Dakota.  It's the Mara River as seen from a hot air balloon.  The river is home to hippos and the biggest crocodiles I've ever seen outside of National Geographic specials.  Two months before we got to Kenya, another tourist had been chased over the steep riverbank by a Cape buffalo.  Everyone else ran back to and hid in the vehicles, so he wasn't missed right away.  He broke his leg in the fall.  He was lucky.  When we were in the same spot, there were some really big crocodiles in that part of the river.  Crocodiles kill more people in Africa than any other animal.  What is the most dangerous mammal?  Lion?  No.  It's that irritable Cape buffalo.
